Also, keep in mind that intervals can be extended significantly based on how you’re actually riding the bike. Low stress street riding extends intervals significantly. baconandtheguacamole • 3 yr. ago. CRF450L service intervals are 600 miles for oil and 1,800 for valve check. Still pretty frequent unfortunately.
Oil Change interval? The manual says Motorex 10w50. Royal Purple 10w40 came highly recommended. Oil Filter Interval? Any better aftermarket filters for a lower price? Long and Short Screen cleaning interval? I had originally planned to clean every oil change. Valve Adjustments? How often should I be checking?
Published on 07.07.2023. It’s that time of year again when KTM announces the new higher-spec Six Days Special Edition of the 500 EXC-F. The upgraded model sets itself apart with an extended list of top-of-the-line components, all specially designed and built for the rigors of the race. For the 2024 year model, the Special Edition machine gets
- I'm willing to push a KTM 500 exc to much longer service intervals, given that I'll not be racing (maybe 3-4,000 km per oil change) - I'm willing to, if reasonable weight, carry around a couple extra parts that might be known reliability points on the KTM - I don't want too much power on technical, off road riding, and ride relatively slowly
KTM 1190advR said: ↑. From what I know KTM recommends 10w-60 if you live/drive regularly in ambient temps above 30 deg Celsius. It maintains lubrication at higher temps. 10w-50 provides poor lubrication at very high engine temps and wear out much faster. This is misleading and completely unsubstantiated advice.
We asked Honda and they said that the CRF450L has an oil change interval of 600 miles and a valve check interval of 1,800 miles. While that seems short when viewed as a street bike, when thinking about trail bikes or dirt-bike-based dual-sports, that’s changing the oil after six 100-mile rides, which is well within reason.
Oil change for the KTM 250 EXC-F 2007 There are 3 oil filters, 2 mesh ones & 1 paper paper one. The paper one, (HiFlo HF655), is on the left side above the footpeg, there is a mesh one below the gear lever, hidden behind a bolt. The other mesh one is underneath, behind the sump guard & uses an 8mm allen key.

I use Mobil 1 Racing 4T which is a 15w-50 and change the oil about every 250-300km's with a filter change every 2nd oil change. Have used this oil since new on the 525 (11 months old, 4,000km)
Ignore the service intervals for eveything. Just keep the air filter clean, change the oil and clean the 2 screens every 250 to 500 miles and the oil filters every 4th oil change. The camchain wears quite slowly, will last 4000 miles or so if you are lucky. This is how to check it:
700 hours at 25-hour intervals is 28 oil changes, or 56 qts. 90 - 56 = 34 quarts = 8.5 gallons of oil. call it $20/gallon (Rotella T6, $21-ish if you catch it on sale at walmart, usually $25-28/gal), that's $170 worth of oil that you really didn't need to change.
