Screen comparison of the two Nintendo GBA SP models. The backlit model AGS-101 and the original frontlit model AGS-001. Games showcased are Pokemon Ruby (lef
As many of you know, the AGS 001's screen kinda sucks big time, I'm wanting to replace it with a AGS-101 screen and I am aware I need a voltage regulator of some kind as well as a brightness controller if I want it to do more than turn on and off with the brightness button on the GBA.
The control positioning is similar to that of the original GBA, but the left- and right-shoulder buttons are smaller. Since the SP is much narrower than the original model at 3.23 inches wide, the
Edit: Another way to tell if it is an AGS-101 is look at the color of the casing. The AGS-101 only came in 3 colors: Pearl blue, Pearl pink, and Graphite. Judging by the picture, its either a pearl blue or a silver gameboy. If it's silver then it can't be the 101, but if it is pearl blue it has to be the 101.
On ebay I only see offers for 40-50$ before shipping, and on aliexpress I only see either boards for AGS-101 or one seller, which only sells in bulk. If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be hugely appreciated.
If it helps clarifying, the GBA SP AGS 101 option will be left unmodified, but if I go with the AGB 001, I'll be doing the IPS mod and reshelling it. Most of the questions involve the modded AGB option. I haven't had that much luck finding cheap AGB 001 donor consoles on this end of things.
i think glass screen on ags 101 gba sp are a bad idea,in the old gameboy the lens is glued to the shell so it is easy to remove. but on the sp it is glued to the glass screen and plastic is easier to remove than glass without damaging the screen.and the folding design protect the screen anyway.
Hey I was wondering if someone could do a comparison of the ags 101 screen versus the 001 screen in the dark, I was contemplating whether it's worth… Coins 0 coins
Side by side comparison of Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP AGS-001 vs Nintendo GameBoy Advance AGS-101.
Once again, none of these issues occur when I either have the console plugged in or the battery is completely full. I have tested this card in a GBA SP (AGS-001) and a DS Lite, neither of which seemed to have this issue. I am going to try a friend's EZFlash Omega on my GBA soon, but I am pretty sure the issue is the console.
